HEALTHY PEERS
 

Students working together to develop a healthy lifestyle

WHO?

  • The students from an 8th grade classroom will work together with a 4th grade classroom in a peer tutoring setting.
  • Each 8th grader will be matched with a fourth grader.

WHEN?

  • The students will work together on the last Friday of every month.
  • The students will work during the last period of the day.
  • This will take place for the whole year starting in October.

WHERE?

  • Students will perform activities within their school setting.
  • This may include classroom, gymnasium, cafeteria, or auditorium.

ACTIVITY

  • 8th grade students will develop lessons based on the following criteria for each monthly peer collaboration.

LESSON CRITERIA

  • Students learn the importance of physical fitness and healthy lifestyle
  • Students learn the importance of helping others and working together.

LESSON IDEAS

  • Students can develop activity journals for physical fitness activity and/or healthy diet reference.
  • Students can perform exercises in a group setting to learn the importance of social health.
  • Students can teach the importance a healthy heart including pulse and heart rate.
