Students working together to develop a healthy
lifestyle
WHO?
- The students
from an 8th grade classroom will work together with a 4th grade
classroom in a peer tutoring setting.
- Each 8th
grader will be matched with a fourth grader.
WHEN?
- The students
will work together on the last Friday of every month.
- The students
will work during the last period of the day.
- This will
take place for the whole year starting in October.
WHERE?
- Students
will perform activities within their school setting.
- This may
include classroom, gymnasium, cafeteria, or auditorium.
ACTIVITY
- 8th grade
students will develop lessons based on the following criteria
for each monthly peer collaboration.
LESSON CRITERIA
- Students
learn the importance of physical fitness and healthy lifestyle
- Students
learn the importance of helping others and working together.
LESSON IDEAS
- Students
can develop activity journals for physical fitness activity and/or
healthy diet reference.
- Students
can perform exercises in a group setting to learn the importance
of social health.
- Students
can teach the importance a healthy heart including pulse and heart
rate.
