Our Idea is
called "Holiday Helpers" It is a toy drive to help underprivileged
children experience the joys of the holiday season. It also takes
pressure off the families and parents Geared for elementary level
K-4. The whole school will participate Object is to see which class
can raise the most amount of toys It will take place during school
in the mornings 1st thing to start the day Toys will be totaled
&recorded every Friday morning by the teacher. During morning
announcements, the classes that are in the lead will be announced.
It will take place daily for 2 months during the winter holiday
season (Nov. & Dec.) This will take place in the class room
but the community will be involved too A group of children will
benefit outside of school and the participating students The skills
that the children will learn Sharing / giving Working together (team
work) Helping others Cooperation Awareness that differences DO exist
Preparation activities will be a birthday wishlist created by the
student, by this we will check the affective domain and ask them
how would they feel if they could not have or even think about these
toys. We will also prvide parent handouts informing the parents
of what our goal is in this activity. Results and Evaluation - Students
will be monitored on their action and attitude by the teacher. Students
will also reflect on their own by class discussions and participation
Students will count and record their progress every week. At the
end of the toy drive, the class with the most donations will receive
a pizza party after the winter break.
ALL students
will receive a "Great Job" certificate Our budget would
consist of Large cardboard boxes (20-25) Pizza party $ - pizza -
plates, napkins - drinks Enough for 20-25 children 500 certificates
for all students.
