National Hunger and Homelessness Week--Lees-McRae College
The Bonner Leaders Program at Lees- McRae College in Banner Elk, NC is holding a week full of events in conjunction with National Hunger and Homelessness Week. The week officially begins November 14th and runs through Nov. 20th. The purpose of National Hunger and Homelessness Week is to draw awareness to these two critical issues. In an effort to make people more aware of the situation, several interactive events will be held. While no one can truly understand the situation unless they are in it, programs like the Oxfam Hunger Banquet, 24 Hour Fast and Homeless Shanty allow students to participate in hunger and homelessness simulations. We are also sponsoring the movie "Pay It Forward" in hopes of spreading the power of the human spirit all across the Lees-McRae campus. Hunger and Homelessness are serious problems in the United States as well as in the rest of the world. By bringing events like these to college campuses, every student can participate in spreading awareness about these issues.
