My name is Jeannette, and I'd like to share my
Pay It Forward story with you.
When our 14 year old daughter reached a point in
her teen years that went past normal rebellion and entered into
self destruction, my husband and I had no other choice but to place
her in a specialty school for behavior modification. Unfortunately,
none of the facilities we looked at were covered by our insurance
plan. So we depleted our retirement account to pay for her placement.
We know this saved her life.
We decided at that time that other parents in our
situation should not be forced to take such drastic action to receive
the help their child needs and deserves. As a result of our experience,
Looking Forward Foundation, Inc. was started. We created the organization
to help other parents defray the costs to get their teenager the
help they need and deserve. Looking Forward Foundation raises and
distributes scholarship funds to a specialty school or residential
treatment center when the teenager has been placed there. In an
emergency case, we pay to not only transport the teen to the facility
but also have initial testing completed. The funds are gifts; no
repayment is required of the parents.
We are confident that the recipients of these gifts
will Pay It Forward with healthy and productive lives.
