The connection with Pay It Forward is a windy road...... I was at the gym one day and Oprah was on the overhead tv. It was the show that featured the folks from The Kingdom Assignment and I was so impressed that I bought their book. I learned that what inspired them was the movie, Pay It Forward and knew I needed to see that! And so, my partner and I rented the movie and our fledgling organization, The Seed Fund, changed direction that night. We knew that our donating money to good grassroots causes was not enough. We knew that we could tap into the good will of others and use our resources to get others to also participate in making the world just a little better. We knew our resources were just the tip of the iceberg in this land of such great excess. Our mission includes the following statements: "We work to help individuals and businesses channel their excess goods and surplus inventory and to get these resources to deserving recipients, offering a perfect alternative to the landfill. We propose that we are all stewards of the resources that we are given and we have a responsibility to use these gifts for the benefit of others." And so, The Seed Fund is now in full bloom, young to be sure, but strong and, truly, there is no limit to what we all can accomplish. Susan McMillan
