My
sons and a neighbor wanted to make some money over the summer. They
are 8 and 9 years old. They passed out flyers to the neighbors offering
to do garden work, care for pets, etc. They also sold patriotic
items for the 4th of July.
I'd told them
they could do this only if they'd donate part of their money to
a charity. Now I'd just finished reading "Pay it Forward"
and there was no doubt in my mind which helpful cause to promote.
So I rented the movie and watched it with them, and helped them
to understand the concept behind what they were doing. Then we made
flyers about the 'Pay it Forward Foundation', the book, and the
movie to pass out to as many people as we can.
Sales are going
well, and we'll have donations ready to send by the end of next
month. More important, we are exposing many new people to this wonderful
and simple concept of 'paying it forward' as a way to help make
the world a better place.
