Hello-
I am the leader
of a Brownie Girl Scout troop in Southern California. We have 16
girls in the troop, ages 6-8. When we were doing our cookie booth
sale in front of Trader Joes, a man came out and said that he didn't
want to buy any cookies but that he would do something nice for
our troop. He had the smallest girl hold out her hand and close
her eyes and told her she couldn't open her eyes until he was gone.
He placed something in her hand and said, "You don't have to
pay it back, just have the troop pay it forward." Then he walked
away. When one of the mothers instructed little Kiersten that the
man was gone, she opened her hand and screamed, "It's $100!"
As a troop we
are going to pay it forward, and several of the mothers are reading
your book now. "Pay it forward" is a wonderful concept
that goes hand in hand with the philosophy of scouting. I just wanted
to give you one example of your idea continuing to touch and enrich
lives. Thank you. Rachel Monte
